ST JOHN'S COLLEGE MTATA HOSTEL
The hostel is basically divided into two, serving both girls and boys.
THE SELECTION CRITERIA
It is based on the distance from the applicant's home address to the school and deserving learners.

Meals are served three times daily,
Breakfast: 7-7:30
Lunch: 15:00-15:30
Supper: 18:00-18:30
​
It is important for learner to come as early as possible and no later than the mentioned hours or else they forfeit their meal and will unfortunately catch up on the next one.

On Fridays after school, a learner is allowed to go for Town leave and come back no later than 17:00.
​
The hostel offers a shower, and sinks which can be utilized for washing clothes.
GIRLS HOSTEL
A GREAT PLACE TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS.
Has about 28 dormitories, each providing +/- 12 students spaces. So it basically provides for about 336 girls from grade 10 to 12. Learners from the same grade are placed together. This aids in building social relationships while also allowing them to work in groups for their school work.
STUDY SESSIONS
Every learner is expected to be seated for an individual study session from 7pm to 9pm. No noise is tolerated, including discussions.
SUNDAYS AT THE HOSTEL

Every Sunday a learner is expected to already be at church(St John's College Guild) by 6:30. The service runs from 6:30 to 8:45. At 9pm only then can the learns go for breakfast.
A learner missing the church without a valid reason and reporting prior to the check ins by the Boarding Master/housemother runs a risk of a detention or more.

An SCO is attended from 7pm to 9pm
Alternatively one can opt for a study session provided that they have a deadline but its not recommended.
